She split $60M jackpot earlier this year; now Mississauga woman wins big again

Trang Pham is still getting used to being a multimillionaire after splitting a $60-million lottery jackpot five ways earlier this year.

Now, the Mississauga mother of two has added another $250,000 to her bank account after winning yet another major lotto prize.

“It’s unbelievable. It feels like I was struck by lightning twice in one year. You have to give yourself a smack just to make sure it’s real,” Pham, who’s retired, said during her second visit in several months to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation officials said in a news release on Thursday the Mississauga woman recently won a top prize of $250,000 playing the Instant Golden Multiplier game.

Pham and four former co-workers split a $60-million jackpot earlier this year when their shared ticket was the big winner in the Jan. 21 Lotto Max draw.

Of her latest lottery win, Pham told OLG officials it all started with a shopping trip.

“I was shopping at an outlet mall and got thirsty, so I stopped at a nearby gas station to grab a bottle of water,” she said. “While I was there, I ended up buying a couple of tickets.”

The next morning, Pham said, she played the tickets while sitting in her car.

“I uncovered the top prize and realized it was a winning ticket. Then I scanned it using the OLG app on my phone, and there it was — $250,000. I was so happy and excited.”

Moments later, she called her husband to share the incredible news.

“His response was, ‘Really?’ He was surprised and overjoyed,” Pham told lottery officials, adding she also told a few friends, who “were also shocked, but thrilled for me at the same time.”

Pham, who’s been playing OLG lotteries regularly “since she was old enough to purchase her first ticket,” said lottery officials, plans to pay bills and travel the world with her winnings.

The winning $250,000 ticket was purchased at Petro-Canada, on Steeles Avenue West in Hornby.
