Shallow grave with human remains found in rural Pickering

Homicide investigators are on the scene after human remains were discovered in a shallow grave in rural Pickering Sunday afternoon.

Durham Police officers were called to Concession Road 8 and Sideline 20 about 2:30 p.m. yesterday after a citizen located burnt human remains in a shallow grave. Forensic Investigators were called to assist and are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner and a Forensic Anthropologist to recover the remains.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine more details about the remains.

Police are urging any witnesses who may have information or who may have used the off-road/ATV trail in the last three weeks to come forward and speak with investigators.
