Peel Regional Police are notifying the public of the release of a convicted sexual offender into the Mississauga and Brampton area.
Joseph Faulkner, 31, is residing in the Wilkinson Road and Tomken Road of Brampton after his statutory release from custody on Wednesday (Aug. 21).
Faulkner’s convictions, say Peel police, relate to sexual offending and breaching related conditions. He is bound by two probation orders which expire in 2027.
The decision by police to issue a Public Safety Advisory comes after receiving information from The Ministry of the Solicitor General and upon careful review of public safety issues.
Faulkner, says police, is subject to numerous conditions, including not being in the presence of any children under the age of 16 unless accompanied by a responsible adult approved by his parole supervisor.
“Information received by Peel Regional Police indicates that Faulkner is at an elevated risk of re-offending. Peel Regional Police will be working to monitor his activities within the community,” said Peel police. “Peel Regional Police are releasing this information to the public as a precautionary measure.
“Members of the public are reminded that although Joesph Faulkner does present a safety risk to the public, his rights are guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms Act.”
Residents are being advised to use caution if they come across Faulkner (pictured below).
“Parents should be mindful of their children’s activities and aware of the individuals they associate with,” police added. Information on Crime Prevention is available on their website.
