A Toronto man is facing a rash of sex trafficking and other charges after a woman was forced to have sex with people for money at various Mississauga motels.

Peel Regional Police say they also recovered drugs and cash after executing search warrants at a home and on a vehicle in Toronto as part of their investigation.

Vice cops in Peel say they launched their investigation in June after a woman came forward to police alleging that she was being sex trafficked in Mississauga.

According to investigators, the woman told them that a man “exercised control over aspects of her life while profiting financially from it.”

A Peel police spokesperson told insauga.com via email that the sex meetings took place over a period of time at various motels in Mississauga.

Police arrested a man on Thursday.

Jermoll Bain, 30, of Toronto, is charged with:

  • human trafficking
  • exercise control
  • receiving benefit resulting from trafficking in persons
  • advertise sexual services
  • material benefit from sexual services
  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of a controlled substance (two counts)

He was held for a bail hearing in Brampton court.

As part of their investigation, police say search warrants executed at a home and on a vehicle in the Park Lawn Road/Lakeshore Boulevard West area of Toronto led to the seizure of an amount of drugs and money.

Investigators believe there may be more victims of human trafficking and sex trafficking and urge anyone with information to call them at 905-453-2121, ext. 3555, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
