Sewer work shutters major Ajax road for the month

A road connected to Ajax’s major thoroughfare is closed for the month due to necessary sewer work.

The town has closed Ontario Street from Harwood Avenue to Windsor Avenue from May 1 to 23 to all but local traffic. Harwood Avenue is the town’s most important artery, running centrally through it. Ontario Street connects Harwood Avenue to the nearby Lord Elgin Public School through a residential neighbourhood.

Those who live on the south side of Ontario will have a two-metre-long walking path. Anyone who needs to drive out will have to inform the workers prior to safely accommodating their exit.

Paid duty officers will also be on scene to ensure road safety.
