A weather alert has been issued for severe thunderstorms in southern Ontario on Friday morning.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong wind gusts and large hail, according to the alert from Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The alert is in effect for the Hamilton, Stratford and Goderich areas. Environment Canada updated the alert to include Burlington and Oakville.
A small cluster of thunderstorms is moving east at 50 km/h this morning.
Wind gusts up to 90 km/h and up to quarter-size hail are possible.
Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible.
The alert does not extend to other areas in the Greater Toronto Area but thunderstorms and rain are also forecast for this area on Friday.
