Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Pickering and Oshawa

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southern Durham today (August 28), particularly Pickering and Oshawa.
Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and potentially nickel-sized hail.
“This severe thunderstorm is located near Gormley, moving southeast at 30 km/h,” says Environment Canada.
Residents are advised to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches, as the combination of strong wind, rain and hail can potentially cause damage and injury.
