A severe thunderstorm warning is currently in effect.

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that’s capable of producing heavy rain, very strong wind gusts, and up to nickel-sized hail.

Wind gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected.

Impacted locations include Ancaster, Dundas, Jerseyville, Alberton and Copetown.

“Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding,” Environment Canada warns.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.”
