Severe thunderstorm and hail watch in effect for Mississauga and Brampton

April 18 weather: Thunderstorms with up to 15 mm of rain in southern Ontario

There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Mississauga and Brampton (June 15).

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.

There can also be isolated hail up to nickel size. Some areas will have locally heavy downpours.

This storm will start this morning.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

UPDATE: The thunderstorm watch has ended for Mississauga and Brampton.
