Just when you thought the weekend would bring a full day of sunny weather with warmer temperatures, mother nature steps in with a “psych.” A storm is brewing and is expected to hit Mississauga, Brampton and the Hamilton area this afternoon.

On Saturday (Apr. 1) at 11 a.m., a weather advisory was released by Environment Canada indicating a potential risk of a severe thunderstorm headed to the region of Mississauga, Brampton, and Hamilton.

The change in weather could bring hail, flooding, strong winds and lightning.

It was also mentioned that, a brief yet isolated tornado will not be entirely ruled out, especially close to Lake Erie.

Although, chances of a tornado is quite low at this time, Environment Canada will continue to monitor any significant changes and follow up with updates.

Meteorologists have also highlighted in their report that the advisory is not to be confused as an “April fool’s” joke.
