Seven of Ontario’s postal code areas hardest hit by COVID-19 are in Brampton

Several areas in Brampton are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, according to recent data from Toronto-based research group ICES.

ICES listed postal codes in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of February 14 to 20.

Of the top 50 listed, seven are in Brampton (one more than during the previous week):

L6P at 11.31% (area of The Gore and Castlemore)
5th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (3rd highest during previous week)

L6Y at 8.62% (area of Chinguacousy and Steeles Ave W)
16th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (not listed during previous week)

L6R at 7.71% (area of Sandalwood Pkwy E and Torbram)
24th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (8th highest during previous week)

L7A at 7.35% (area of Highway 410 and Williams Pkwy)
27th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (24th during previous week)

L6W at 7.23% (area of Steeles Ave E and Kennedy Rd S)
30th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (not listed during previous week)

L6T at 6.79% (area of Highway 407 and Airport Rd)
35th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (17th during previous week)

L6S at 6.49% (area of Williams Pkwy and Bramalea Rd)
44th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (21st during previous week)

For at least three weeks in a row, Peel has remained the region with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity out of all of Ontario’s public health units.
