Brampton residents are invited to the unveiling of a new mural showcasing the “spirit of play” at a community celebration this weekend.
The new mural at the washroom facilities at Brampton’s Fred Kline Park was created by Krystal Ball, a Jamaican-born multi-disciplinary artist living in Toronto, and was inspired “by the park’s vibrant atmosphere,” the city says.
“From biking and running to dog walking and team sports, each silhouette represents the joyful ways people come together to stay active, connect, and enjoy the outdoors,” the city says of Brampton’s newest piece of public artwork.
Flowing bands of bright colour sweep across the piece, and the colours are meant to echo the rhythms of the surrounding landscape and the constant movement within the space.
“The design aims to uplift the environment while reflecting the diversity and liveliness of the community,” the city says. “By transforming this structure into a beacon of creativity and activity, the mural invites park-goers to see themselves within the artwork and encourages ongoing engagement with the many forms of recreation the park supports.”
The city is holding a celebration in the park on Saturday, and invites residents to see the new mural and meet the artists while enjoying light refreshments and interactive colouring activities.
The free event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in Fred Kline Park, located at 9445 McLaughlin Rd. N. in Brampton.
