Security camera catches man looking in mailbox and checking door in Mississauga

A Mississauga resident is warning people of a man spotted on security camera checking their mailbox and trying to open the front door.
The man was captured on security camera footage in the Cawthra Road and Lakeshore Road area of Mississauga, the resident tells insauga.com.
“Be aware of this man roaming the neighbourhood,” the resident posted on Facebook.
The man came to the front door on Monday (Jan. 16) morning. A security video shows the man trying to open the home’s front door and looking in the mailbox.
Fortunately, the mailbox was empty — a delivery the residents expected hadn’t yet arrived.
“Lock your door and if you have a security camera in place, make sure it’s recording the front porch,” the resident warned.

The resident said none of the neighbours reported recent thefts.
And Peel Regional Police also tell insauga.com that there haven’t been any recent reports of mail theft.
Any mail thefts should be reported to police and Canada Post, police advise.
Canada Post offers these tips to keep mail safe:
- Collect your mail daily.
- If you’ll be away, use the hold mail service to suspend delivery until you return.
- When you move, file a change of address and advise your banks and other companies of your new address.
- If your mail fails to arrive, contact senders to ensure they have your correct mailing address. Report any concerns to Canada Post customer service.
