Scugog driver catches careless driving charge after a crash involving a person on a scooter

Scugog man caught a careless driving charges after at pedestrian on a scooter was hit by a car.

The driver was headed east down Chimney Hill Way on May 31. As he crossed the intersection with Old Simcoe Road, he and a pedestrian collided.

The pedestrian received non-life threatening injuries in the crash. The driver meanwhile was charged with careless driving. If convicted a careless driving charge will net a driver;

  • six demerit points,
  • a suspension up to two years,
  • a fine between $400 and $2,000,
  • up to six month behind bars.
