Niagara schools are open today but their buses are not running.

The doors are open at Niagara Region school – both for the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) and the Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) – but students are going to have to find their own way there.

The Niagara Student Transportation Service (NSTS) posted this morning (February 3), “All Student Transportation (Buses, Taxis, Caravans) is cancelled today for the: District School Board of Niagara and Niagara Catholic District School Board. Schools are open.”

“The decision to cancel transportation was based on the school day forecast,” the NSTS continued. “We considered this morning’s road reports on non-main roads with slick conditions and the snow total projections and impact to roads for the ride home today.”

Shortly afterwards, both Niagara school board posted similar news, “Thursday, Feb3 – Schools Open/Transportation Cancelled due to road conditions,” said the DSBN. “If your child is not going to school today, please report their absence in Safe Arrival.”

Noted the NCDSB, “Good morning! Buses are cancelled but schools are open for those who can get to school safely. If you are keeping your child home, report their absence through Safe Arrival. If you have to travel, be safe out there.”
