While Fort Erie schools are open for both the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board today (November 18), students will have to find their own way there.

The Niagara Student Transportation Services posted this morning, “Student Transportation (including Taxis) is cancelled today for Fort Erie for the: District School Board of Niagara and Niagara Catholic District School Board.”

They added, “The decision to cancel student transportation for Fort Erie was based on snowfall accumulations and the ability of school vehicles to navigate secondary roadways and side streets along with the school day forecast.”

Families are asked to visit their website for a complete list of canceled routes and delays. Their site is HERE.

The DSBN followed up with their own message listing specific school.

“Transportation for Fort Erie Schools Cancelled – All Schools are Open. Transportation is cancelled for Garrison Road, John Brant, Peace Bridge, Stevensville, and Greater Fort Erie Secondary School. All schools are open. If your child is staying home, please report their absence.”

The NCDSB posted a short message on their website, saying, “Due to inclement weather, Student Transportation Cancelled Fort Erie Only, Schools Remain Open.”

Fort Erie itself posted that “Town plows were deployed overnight and are still out working to plow the roads in Fort Erie due to the significant snow fall. Please allow extra time for travel today as crews continue to work to clear roads.”
