School bus route cancellations hit 34 today; 14 in Clarington

School bus route cancellations are at 34 today (June 6), with 14 in Clarington, which has been the local epicentre of the driver shortage most of the year.

Nine schools are affected in Clarington, including Duke of Cambridge, Clarington Central Intermediate, St. Joseph, Leo Cleary and St. Elizabeth elementary schools and Bowmanville, Clarington Central, Holy Trinity and St. Stephen high schools.

There are three schools each in Pickering, Oshawa, Scugog and Whitby affected: Elizabeth Phin elementary school and Pine Ridge and St. Mary high schools in Pickering; Cartwright Central, RH Cornish and SA Cawker in Scugog; Kedron, St. Anne and McLaughlin in Oshawa; and Fallingbrook, Willows Walk and Father Leo Austin in Whitby.
