A Scarborough man faces numerous charges after a minor was sexually assaulted in Ajax a couple of years back.

Police received a tip in June about sexual assault allegations stemming from incidents from 2018 and 2019 in Ajax and the Town of New Tecumseth some 120 km/h away in Simcoe County.

After an investigation Christopher McCargar, 51 0f Scarborough, was arrested and charged with four counts sexual interference, four counts of invitation to sexual touching under 16, making sexually explicit material available to person under 14 and possession of child pornography.

He remains in police custody but will appear in a Bradford on July 14, 2022. Anyone with information about the case can call their local police service, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

“It is never too late to report a sexual assault to police. A sexual offence can be reported no matter how long ago it happened. Our duty is to bring an appropriate resolution by conducting a professional and thorough investigation, while at the same time providing you with necessary information, resources and support,” said the OPP.

“If you do not want to make a report to police or need time and support to make that decision, we have partnered with many other agencies that can help,” police continued.
