Elaine McLaughlin said yes. And she is glad she did.

The 56-year-old Burlington resident said yes when she was posed with the question of whether or not she wanted to play Encore in the October 9 Lotto Max draw.

By deciding to spend that extra $1 on Encore, McLaughlin is now $100,000 richer.

“I always add Encore and have been playing for more than five years,” shared McLaughlin, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

A retired IT specialist, she said she was at home when she checked her tickets using the OLG Lottery App. “I needed another set of eyes to confirm that I won. I got my daughter to check too!”

So far, McLaughlin said she hasn’t told anyone about the winnings but that is about to change. “I had to make sure it was real first,” she laughed.

She plans to renovate her kitchen. “That’s what I am most excited for. I also plan to purchase my dog some special treats so we can celebrate together!” she smiled.

“This is an overwhelming experience – very emotional” she said. McLaughlin also won $7 on other Encore selections

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Lakeshore Rd. in Burlington.
