Police seized a sawed-off shotgun following a neighbour dispute in Hamilton.
Officers responded to reports that two neighbours were fighting and damaging property at a home on Cannon Street near Ottawa Street in the city’s east end around 7:15 a.m. on April 3, Hamilton Police said.
Upon arrival, both individuals had left the area, police said.
Police said officers learned that one of the residents may have a firearm. Officers quickly flooded the area and located a male matching the provided description, police said.
When officers attempted to engage the individual, he was uncooperative, police said.
A brief struggle ensued, after which he was taken into custody, police said.
Police said officers searched the male’s belongings and found a loaded, sawed-off shotgun concealed in a bag.
The male faces several charges, including possession of a prohibited firearm, uttering threats to cause death and mischief (damage to property).
