Salad, sesame seed products, and mouth rinse recalled from stores in Mississauga and Brampton

Health Canada reports that multiple products have been recalled from stores in Ontario this week (Jan. 3 to 9) due to potential health and safety risks, including stores in Mississauga and Brampton.

Residents are advised to check if they have these products at home and avoid using or consuming them out of caution.

The following products are affected:


Mahruse brand Tahini Sesame Seed Paste

Risk: Possible Salmonella contamination. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Risks are higher for young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

What you should do: Recalled products should be returned to the store where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from eating a recalled product, contact your doctor.


Certain Dole and President’s Choice brand salad products

Risk: Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.


Equate Dry Mouth Oral Rinse

Risk: The recalled products may have the presence of the microorganism Klebsiella pneumoniaK. Pneumonia, which can cause a wide range of infections in humans.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.

Risk: The wireless earphones can overheat while charging or in use, posing burn and fire hazards.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact E-filliate to receive a pre-paid shipment label and return the product directly to E-filliate in order to receive a free replacement.
