Three Oakville politicians are on a Russian “black list” of people not allowed to step into the country.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced Monday that Oakville MP and Minister of National Defence Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, Oakville North-Burlington MP Pam Damoff and Oakville resident and Liberal MP Adam van Koeverden are now denied entry to the Russian Federation.

The list of 313 names includes Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and a long list of members fr0m all parties in the federal government.

The Russian government said the personal sanctions against top officials, parliamentarians and “anti-Russian” figures is being done in response to the “Russophobic rage” extended to the leaders of Russia by Washington and Canada.

“This step is forced and taken in response to the outrageous hostility of the current Canadian regime, which has tested our patience for so long,” said the Russian statement.

“Every Russophobic attack, be it attacks on Russian diplomatic missions, airspace closures, or Ottawa’s actual severing of bilateral economic ties to the detriment of Canadian interests, will inevitably receive a decisive and not necessarily symmetrical rebuff.”
