drug trafficking charges for pair from Mississauga and Brampton

Trying to make a getaway didn’t end well for a pair of accused drug dealers from Mississauga and Brampton who led officers on a foot chase in Guelph.

The takedowns happened around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday when officers with the Guelph Police Service were watching an address near Neeve Street and Howitt Street that is “known to be involved in the drug subculture,” police said.

During the stakeout, police say they witnessed several meetings that were “consistent with drug trafficking.”

Officers approached two men as they exited the premises and that’s when police say the suspects took off on foot in opposite directions.

Police gave chase and located both suspects who were arrested and charged.

The Guelph Police Service says a 26-year-old man from Mississauga and a 26-year-old man from Brampton have been charged with one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possessing a controlled substance.

The accused are scheduled to make court appearances on Friday to answer the charges. Police have not disclosed the identities of the accused.
