Police have suspended the license of a driver from Brampton after a rollover crash and registering an alert on a breathalyzer.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when the OPP says officers were called to Wellington Road 34 in Puslinch Township, approximately 14 kilometres south of Guelph.
Police say a single vehicle was involved in the rollover collision, and that officers were suspicious that the driver may have consumed alcohol.
Officers demanded the driver provide a breath sample into a screening device, and say the driver registered a warning “alert.”
The OPP says the 35-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with careless driving and hit with a seven-day driver’s licence suspension. The name of the accused, who is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6, has not been released.
In 2024, police began mandatory alcohol screening on GTA highways, including the QEW and Highways 403 and 401. The OPP says anyone who witnesses a suspected impaired or unsafe driver can report it to police by calling 911 when it is safe to do so.
