Roller-coaster stopped, guest kicked out of Canada’s Wonderland

Canada’s Wonderland’s largest roller-coaster was stopped as people were on the ride last week.

The reason: a guest disconnected a safety restraint, a spokesperson for the amusement park said.

Public relations director Grace Peacock told INsauga.com that the incident happened last Friday on the Leviathan.

The ride is Canada’s tallest and fastest roller-coaster, the park’s website says.

“Safety is a top priority at Canada’s Wonderland,” Peacock said.

“This ride is designed with multiple levels of safety restraints, and a ride operator immediately stopped the ride when a guest disconnected the secondary restraint.”

Staff then walked up the lift hill to make sure that the restraint was refastened and the ride continued “shortly after,” Peacock said.

A video posted online shows the roller-coaster train stopped on the lift hill with a staff member walking up the stairs towards the riders.

The ride was stopped at around 8 p.m. and resumed by 8:15 p.m.

“All guests safely unloaded in the station, as designed,” she said.

As for the guest who reportedly disconnected the restraint, they were met by security and escorted out of the park for violating the code of conduct, Peacock said.
