Tabletop gamers are about to rack up some serious experience points as Hamilton’s newest games cafe celebrates its grand opening this weekend.

After much anticipation, the Bard and Bear Games Café, located at 237 James St. N, will start welcoming gaming enthusiasts this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 10, 11 and 12).

For a $5 cover charge, gamers will get three hours of play and their choice of any of the more than 750 games available at the café.

And with a menu full of delicious snacks and treats that will appeal to all dietary concerns, sorcerers, elves and orcs alike won’t have any trouble filling their bellies as they quest in the comfort of the Bard and Bear.

Steven and Megan Edmonds are the recently married duo who own and operate James Street North’s newest destination for fun.

The pair are unabashed gaming enthusiasts, particularly when it comes to D&D, and possess a wealth of knowledge about all things gaming so that those who are new to the world of tabletop and role-playing games will find themselves in good hands.

In honour of the grand opening this weekend, Bard and Bear is offering 20 per cent off all retail sales and each $5 game cover is an entry into their daily draw for a prize package, which includes a $25 gift cert (which amounts to about 15 hours of gameplay at the cafe) and Bard and Bear merch.

The Bard and Bear Games Café is open this Friday (12-12), Saturday (12-12), and Sunday (12-10). After this week, it will be open from Tuesdays to Sundays.

More information about the cafe and its games and menu and COVID-19 precautions can be found on its new website.
