A series of break-ins at Burlington homes have residents on high alert.

Police say the break-ins have occurred overnight in the neighbourhoods near Appleby Line and Dundas Street as well as Guelph Line and Upper Middle Road.

One recent case took place in the early hours of May 20, when a burglar forced open a rear door of the home and tried to enter. According to police, the noise associated with the break-in was heard by the residents who called out. The culprit then fled the scene.

No items went missing in this case but damage was done to the door.

As well, between May 16 and May 22, break-ins took place at two other homes.

In one instance someone busted through the front door of a home that was unoccupied at the time. The person managed to get away with cash and jewelry.

And, in another case, the suspect broke through a rear patio door and went through several rooms without taking anything.

In all of these cases, there is no description of those involved and police cannot confirm all these are linked.
