Road closures upcoming in downtown Burlington for annual Robbie Burns race

The annual Robbie Burns road race will force several road closures and lane restrictions in downtown Burlington Sunday, Jan. 22.

The race starts on Elgin St. at 8:30 a.m. and the following road closures will be in effect:

  • 6 to 10 a.m. – Elgin St. from Burlington Ave. to Locust St.
  • 8 to 9 a.m. – Baldwin St. from Hurd Ave. to Brant St.
  • 8:30 to 9 a.m. – Brant St. from Baldwin St. to Fairview St.

Lanes will be closed on Locust St. northbound from 7:30 to 10 a.m. In additions, several other streets on the race route will have one lane coned-off for runners. The City is warning local residents to expect delays.

Enjoy free parking every Sunday in Burlington’s downtown municipal lots, including various municipal surface parking lots as well as the 355 spaces at the waterfront parking garage, 414 Locust St.

The City reminds everyone to obey all parking bylaw regulations to avoid being ticketed and/or towed. Do not park at covered meters. Temporary “Emergency – No Stopping“ signs will be posted on various streets.

Parking and police officers will conduct enforcement of illegally parked vehicles to ensure that streets are free and clear for emergency vehicle access.
