Road closure on major street will result in detour for Oakville Transit riders

Construction on the Tansley Bridge will result in a detour for Oakville Transit Route 5 riders beginning next Monday (January 23).
A scheduled road closure on Dundas St. between Sutton Dr. and Tremaine Rd. will impact Route 5 each weekday evening beginning at 9 p.m. from next Monday to approximately February 18.
Oakville Transit’s Route 5 bus will be detoured, with a shuttle to assist with connections into Burlington.
Here’s a look at the impact the road closure will have on Oakville Transit riders.
To support improvements to the Tansley Bridge, Dundas Street will be closed from Sutton Drive to Tremaine Road on weeknights starting January 23. Closures will take place Monday to Friday (including Friday night) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. These closures are anticipated to end by 5 a.m. February 18, 2023.
Oakville Transit Route 5 trips after 8:40 p.m. will be impacted, Monday to Friday for approximately one month.
To ensure connections into Burlington, Oakville Transit will operate a shuttle bus from Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) to Dundas/407 Walkers carpool lot.
WESTBOUND TRAVEL TOWARDS BURLINGTON
The 8:40 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Route 5 from Oakville GO will travel as far as Dundas and Colonel William Parkway, where the bus will short turn and go out of service.
A shuttle will operate from OTMH at 9:12 p.m. and 10:12 p.m. upon arrival of the regular Route 5. Dundas, Colonel William, Upper Middle, Bronte, QEW, Burloak (turns into Upper Middle), Sutton and Dundas to Dundas/407.
EASTBOUND TRAVEL TOWARDS OAKVILLE AND THE OAKVILLE GO
The 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. eastbound Route 5 from Dundas/407 will operate via shuttle, leaving at 9:40 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. arriving at OTMH at 10:08 p.m. and 11:08 p.m. The connecting Route 5 East will depart the OTMH at 10:46 p.m. and 11:10pm.
The regularly scheduled Route 5 eastbound will depart Dundas and Bronte at 9:41p.m. and 10:41 p.m.
