Six children hospitalized after fire breaks out in Mississauga

Mississauga Fire is responding to a second-alarm residential fire in Mississauga on Saturday morning.
The fire broke out inside a semi-detached house in the area of Starfield Cr and Windwood Dr, near Britannia and Winston Churchill.
Six occupants have been transported to hospital, the fire department confirmed.
Police say other residences in the area are being evacuated.
Starfield Rd is closed at Windwood Dr for the time being.
The fire was reported at 10:43 a.m.
Residents are asked to avoid the area and be aware of first responders working on the roadways.
UPDATE: Police say six children in total have been transported to local hospital. Injuries are believed to be minor.
Mississauga Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi called the incident an “aggressive firefight” and commended the bravery of an 18-year-old who reportedly climbed up on the house’s roof to help the family escape.
