Road closures are now in place on Airport Road and will last more than two months for bridge widening and storm pipe improvements north of Brampton.
The closures were put in place on Monday and will last until early September, Peel Public Works says.
Airport Road has been closed to through-traffic from Emma Street to Hilltop Drive. Traffic north of Cranston Drive to north of Huntsmill Drive and on Old Church Road will also be impacted, the region says.
“Access to residents and businesses will be fully maintained through local detours,” the region says.
Crews will remove and widen the existing bridge culvert at the Caledon Trailway and install new, larger-diameter storm pipes.
During the bridge works, the crossing on Airport Road will be closed, and Trail users will need to follow signage posted east and west of the trail, and along the detour route, to safely cross Airport Road.
Airport Road will also be closed for through traffic between Olde Base Line and Emma Street, as part of the truck prohibition program which launched earlier this month.
