Alongside the extreme heat, some stormy weather is expected to develop in Mississauga, Brampton and surrounding areas.

Thursday’s daily forecast includes a chance of showers and potential thunderstorms starting at around 4 to 5 p.m., with rain showers expected to continue into the evening and potentially overnight.

At this time, Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for Caledon, with thunderstorms “capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.”

“Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon as a slow moving cold front moves through southern Ontario. The severe thunderstorm threat will diminish this evening,” according to Environment Canada.

Residents are advised to take caution when stormy weather approaches, as the strong winds and hail can potentially damage property and cause injuries.

An extended heat warning also remains in effect for the Region, with boiling hot temperatures feeling like 37 C to 40 C with the humidity.

The heat is expected to subside by Friday.
