Rifle seized and Mississauga man faces several firearm charges

A Mississauga man faces several charges after a rifle was seized in a search.
Police searched a home and a vehicle in Mississauga on Feb. 6, Peel Regional Police said in a press release.
The Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing Unit conducted the searches.
Police seized a Kodiak Defence WK180C rifle, ammunition and prohibited devices containing ammunition.
Troy Matthews, 36, from Mississauga, is charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)
- Possession of firearm (contrary to order)
At the time of his arrest, Mathews had a lifetime weapons prohibition order after a violent home invasion and aggravated assault, police say.
