Rideshare passenger sexually assaulted on trip from Mississauga to Toronto

A rideshare driver from Mississauga has been charged after a passenger was allegedly sexually assaulted during a trip from Mississauga to Toronto on Monday.

Toronto Police said officers responded to a call shortly after noon in the Spadina Avenue and Harbord Street area of downtown Toronto.

Investigators believe the victim was picked up in Mississauga a few minutes before 11:30 a.m. for the ride downtown, police said in a news release on Thursday.

The rideshare driver was operating a black Toyota Corolla Cross, according to police.

Balbir Singh, 44, of Mississauga, is charged with sexual assault. He made an initial court appearance in Toronto earlier this week, police say.
