The rainfall on Monday and Tuesday may have some local bodies of water a little more dangerous, according to Conservation Halton.

They are warning residents to be more caution around bodies of water that may be flowing faster as a result of the downpour.

While widespread flooding is not anticipated, fast flowing water and flooding of low-lying areas and natural floodplains may be expected.

“Conservation Halton is asking all residents and children to keep a safe distance from all watercourses and structures such as bridges, culverts and dams,” said a spokesperson.

“Elevated water levels, fast flowing water, and slippery conditions along stream banks continue to make these locations extremely dangerous. Please alert children in your care of these imminent dangers.”

They will continue to monitor stream and weather conditions and will issue an update if needed.

The current warning is in effect through Wednesday, June 8.
