If you have a passion for viewing the world through a colourful lens, here’s your opportunity to transform a mundane crosswalk into a vibrant piece of art.

In collaboration with the City of Hamilton, Red Tree Artists’ Collective (a multi-disciplinary artists’ collective founded in Toronto) has taken up an innovative project that welcomes anyone who walks the Pipeline Trail and crosses the intersection of Kenilworth Ave. N. and Roxborough Ave., to contribute their creativity and ideas.

Through the participatory art-based approach employed by the Artists’ Collective, commuters who frequent the area will have a chance to share their artistic contributions, which will then be transformed into a unique design that will enhance the visual identity of the Crown Point and Homeside neighbourhood.

The first step to creating a masterpiece is a workshop called “Across the Street,” where community members can actively engage in discussions surrounding safety within the context of the Pipeline Trail and the nearby fire station.

The workshops are set to be held in two parts, on Saturday, June 10, at the Pipeline Trail intersection of Kenilworth Ave. N. and Roxborough Ave., and on June 17, at Hamilton Fire Station 9, both between 11 am and 2 pm.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to a beautiful and meaningful public art project that celebrates the unique spirit of our community, “said Red Tree Artists collective in a news release.

The event is free, family-friendly and open to all.
