Residents from Oshawa to Uxbridge dig out with more winter weather expected Friday

Durham Region residents are once again digging themselves out from under another winter storm with 10-15 cm of the white stuff falling throughout Monday’s drive home and into Tuesday morning.

The heavy bursts of snow and other precipitation types led to treacherous road conditions and poor visibility.

Blame it on a destructive Colorado Low system for the bad weather and it won’t be the last. Enjoy the scattered flurries and two degree weather today and the high of plus-4 Thursday because on Friday, BAM! more snow, with another 10-15 cm on its way, no doubt arriving during the afternoon commute.

So was Wiarton Willie wrong? Is spring ever coming?

One day, warm weather lover. One day. But not yet, as spring, in the form of warm air from the south, and winter, in the guise of Arctic air from the frozen tundra, do battle over Southern Ontario skies, spawning a stormy corridor for a week or more.

Not that weather forecasts more than two weeks out have any high degree of accuracy, but more snow is expected the following weekend as well – specifically the Sunday-Monday of March 13-14 – when a dump of five cm will fall on each day.

Oh well. There’s always April.
