Residents were evacuated after a fire broke out at a Mississauga home.

The fire started around 12:40 p.m. today (March 22) in a backyard of a home in the Paddock Crescent and Bridlepath Trail area of Mississauga, Peel Regional Police say.

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services said the fire has escalated to a second alarm.

“Fire operations are defensive, with exterior and elevated fire streams being applied,” Mississauga Fire said in a tweet.

The residence, along with surrounding homes, were evacuated, police say.

There were no injuries reported.

Police suggested drivers use alternate routes and avoid the area.
