Hamilton may really be living up to its Tiger-Town moniker.
The City of Hamilton confirmed Monday that its animal control unit has been investigating reports of “a large cat-like animal” off York Rd. in Dundas since late last week.
So far, patrollers have been unable to confirm the sighting.
Additionally, Animal Services did not receive any further reports of sightings over the weekend.

The City has received several reports of large Felidae over the last few years.
The height of the pandemic, especially, saw an increase in these supposed sightings.
So far, it’s mostly been a case of mistaken identity.
While extremely rare in these parts, cougars, bobcats, and lynxes can be found throughout Ontario, so if you do manage to come across a large cat-like animal in Hamilton, the City reminds residents not to run, to stay calm, and to “make yourself look as large as possible by waving your arms above your head” and “loudly shouting.”
