Emergency crews were on scene on the shore of Lake Ontario in Port Credit for an investigation.
Peel Regional Police confirmed they received a 911 call at 7:20 p.m Wednesday (April 12) requesting a response to Port Street and Elizabeth Street. However, they did not specify the nature of the call or their investigation.
They did, however, confirm they were joined on the scene by Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and Peel Regional Paramedics. Additionally, they closed off the immediate area as they investigated.
Mississauga Fire reported a man was in the water and the rescue team was entering the water. They later turned the scene over to police.
Update: On April 13, a Peel Regional Police media spokesperson confirmed the man is dead. The circumstances are not suspicious and police said they will not be releasing further information out of respect for the man’s family.
