Niagara Police arrived too late to stop a disturbance in Niagara Falls last night (Sept. 28) but quickly tracked down the armed man who caused it.

Police arrived at the Huggins St. and Portage Rd. area at 8 p.m. but the fracas had already broken up. However, they were told of a young man believed to be carrying a black handgun.

They tracked him down “a short distance away’ and quickly arrested him. When they searched near him, they found a replica Glock 17 airsoft firearm with laser sights, loaded with a single 9mm round of ammunition.

Matthew Allan Chisholm, 18, of Welland has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon, and careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition.

He remained in custody, scheduled to attend a bail hearing later today (Sep. 29) via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines.
