Renowned amateur pitcher among five named to Milton Sports Hall of Fame

The Milton Sports Hall of Fame has announced the five new members who will be inducted later this year.

Jack Roberts, a standout amateur baseball player from Campbellville who is being inducted posthumously, will be the lone athlete. Roberts won 180 games for the village squad, losing only 46 over several years. He had a an earned run average under two as the Milton Merchants built a dynasty, winning a dozen provincial championships.

Roberts will be joined by four new inductees in the builders category, longtime local sports writer Steve LeBlanc, figure skating coach Nancy McDonell-Lemaire, football coach Keith Pearce and baseball player, coach and executive Glenn Turner.

This class will bring membership in the Hall of Fame, which opened in 2016, to 30 individuals and teams. There was no class last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
