The Niagara Student Transportation Service, which runs buses for both the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board, is taking no chances with the ice and snowstorm slated to hit the region late afternoon.

At this point, the buses will be on the road when schools close today (Feb. 22) but all late secondary buses, meant for students staying behind regular hours for sports or clubs, are being pre-emptively canceled for both boards.

The Catholic board said it’s unlikely that regular after school bus service will be changed.

However, the public board is warning tomorrow (Feb. 23) could be a different story, posting, “With freezing rain expected to go into the morning, remember the weather drill. If any buses are cancelled (or) schools are closed, we’ll post by 6 am. No post means regular school day!”
