It may have been a little rainy out but that didn't put a damper on the Grand Opening at Lupo's Little Eataly truck food in Niagara Falls. As you can see, Mayor Jim Diodati still managed to cut that damp ribbon. (Photos: Facebook)

There’s food trucks… and then there’s food truck that feature some fine Italian dining.

Well, there’s one in Niagara Region, anyway. That would be Lupo’s Little Eataly in the Canadian Tire parking lot at 7190 Morrison Street in Niagara Falls.

Despite some rain, Mayor Jim Diodati was on hand over the weekend with Councillors Mike Strange and Victor Pietrangelo to cut the ribbon for the mobile Italian eatery and thank owners Sue and Gianfranco Loparco for setting up in his city.

“Rain or shine. Lupo’s Little Eataly is ready to bring you fresh, authentic, and locally sourced Italian cuisine… all from a food truck,” marveled the Mayor. “You can even order ahead on their website and place the time you wish to pick it up!”

“I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m looking forward to enjoying my Veal Sandwich later tonight.”

So who is Lupo? Well, that would be the family dog. Explained Gianfranco, lupo is the Italian word for wolf.

He laid out their business model clearly: “Lupo’s mission is to provide the Niagara Region with fresh authentic homemade Italian meals sourced locally. It is very important to me to give back and create solid partnerships with local distributors. I pride myself in living, working, and supporting Niagara!”

He has worked in the food service industry for over 20 years, working along side and learning from the finest employers.

“My passion for cooking originates from watching my parents and my Nonna cook up delicious homemade meals throughout my childhood.  Every meal prepared has always been made with the finest ingredients using original recipes brought over from their native regions in Italy.”

The couple enjoy everything about food and love how food brings people together.

“I have an affection for fresh, authentic Italian food and my dream has always been to own a food truck. Therefore, along with my better half, we thought why not combine my passion with my dream and bring fresh, authentic Italian food to the Niagara Region by way of Lupo’s Little Eataly on wheels!”
