The Region of Durham and Ontario Tech University’s Social Research Centre want to know more of Durham residents’ understanding of nuclear emergency preparedness.

The Region and the university research centre are asking residents to complete a Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Resident Survey online until July 2023.

Durham Region co-ordinates regional emergency responses, maintains the nuclear public alerting system, and leads various emergency preparedness drills and exercises. The survey will help determine how much residents know about general and nuclear emergency preparedness and will help planning and public education initiatives.

Residents who participated in previous years’ surveys are encouraged to take part this year once again. The survey is open to all Durham residents 18-plus and participants who complete the survey can enter to win an emergency preparedness kit.
