PICKERING-UXBRIDGE Riding

Jennifer O’Connell (Liberal) has held this seat since 2015, defeating former Conservative MP Corneliu Chisu to take the riding and PC Cyma Musrat by nearly 14,000 votes in 2019 to hold it.

A political science graduate from the University of Toronto, O’Connell was a popular Pickering City Councillor from 2006 until her election to the House of Commons in 2015.

Jacob Mantle, an international trade lawyer and former Uxbridge Councillor, will be taking the Conservative mantle this time around. Mantle was the youngest municipal councillor in Ontario when he was elected in 2004.

Chisu, who bested long-time Liberal MP Dan McTeague to win the former Pickering-Scarborough East riding in 2011, is running for the People’s Party in 2021. Chisu ran for the PPC two years ago as well, finishing last with 1,265 votes.

The NDP have not yet declared a candidate for the riding.
