Garden lovers in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills this giveaway is for you.

Halton Region is inviting residents to its complimentary compost giveaway happening May 9 to 15 at the Halton Waste Management Site in Milton.

The fertilizer is made up of collected yard waste and leaves that are process into a nutrient rich, natural compost.

It is then handed out for free every spring and fall at the Halton Waste Management Site.

Residents can take up seven bags of compost per household. Visitors may be asked for proof of residency.

Here’s what you’ll need to bring when you come to pick up your complimentary compost:

  • Shovels – residents are responsible for shovelling and bagging their own compost
  • Containers or bags – yard waste bags, garbage bags, reusable containers, pick-up bed or trailer for hauling

COVID-19 safety measures:

  • Cars will be spaced and residents are asked to maintain physical distancing.
  • Staff will not be accepting cash or food donations. Please consider donating to your local food bank.
  • Please self-screen for any COVID-19 symptoms. If you’re feeling unwell, please stay at home.
