Region helps summer businesses launch in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills

A program that helps young people in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills start and run their own business has seen several successful start-ups this summer.

The Summer Company program helps enterprising students between the ages of 15 and 29 get their start in the world of small business.

The Halton Region Small Business Centre is the local coordinator of the provincial program that provides funding of up to $3,000 as well as the support of experienced business advisors from the community.

Thirty-five students applied for the program and seven were accepted.

Here are the companies that the program helped launch this summer.

Nick’s Kicks – Founded by Nicolas Del Aguila, Nick’s Kicks is a sneaker cleaning service that caters to individuals with a keen interest in maintaining a pristine appearance while optimizing cost, time, and effort. Located in Milton and serving Halton, they specialize in delivering top-tier cleaning solutions at a budget-friendly rate, catering to an extensive range of shoe types, from soccer cleats to iconic Jordans.

Ella James Tennis – Founded by Ella James, and offering a diverse selection of group and private lessons, catering to individuals of all age groups, with a primary objective of fostering tennis within the Burlington community and promoting its accessibility to all. Playful Paws – Elisa Zanatta founded this dog walking service that provides flexible and affordable walks around the Oakville community. They offer both private and group walks on a single-time or recurring basis. Playful Paws aims to help busy individuals that may lack time to give their dog a proper, enriching walk. DevGenie – Hamza Irshad started the digital marketing company DevGenie which offers a comprehensive array of services encompassing web development, social media management, search engine optimization, and captivating content creation, The goal is to empower businesses to establish a captivating online presence.

The Social Scope – The Social Scope, started by Muhammad Khan, specializes in transforming businesses social presence into valuable assets. They offer everything from basic photography to showcase businesses to detailed interviews that highlight their commitments. With expertise in professional business videos, real estate home tours, and social media consultancy, they are dedicated to revitalizing businesses and helping them thrive.

Powerscapes – Grayden Power started Powerscapes, which specializes in designing and installing bespoke outdoor lighting solutions, tailored exclusively to your yard’s unique requirements. Utilizing top-notch materials and long-lasting fixtures, they ensure unmatched quality in their creations.
