The sweltering temperatures of summer are right around the corner for Toronto, so it’s great news that a City-owned water park in Toronto is reopening this summer season.
L’Amoreaux Kidstown Water Park is the only City-owned and operated water park in Toronto, located right in the heart of Scarborough, where it first opened in 1988. Entry to the park is free of charge.
Today, the newly revitalized park was unveiled, complete with a new outdoor pool and a wading pool, expanded water-play features, improved accessibility, and design elements inspired by the history and traditions of the Huron-Wendat community, created by artist Catherine Tammaro.

New amenities now open to the public include an outdoor pool with two new water slides, a wading pool with an accessible ramp, added shade structures, poolside lounge seating and picnic tables, cognitive play areas, and a brand new and expanded building with washrooms and changing rooms. There are also big splash pads with custom age-appropriate spray features and attractions.

The newly redesigned water park is also now home to Indigenous placekeeping features that include clan animal sculptures, clan-and-pattern shade structures, sunflower graphics, beaver paving motifs, custom arrowhead graphic fence panels, a waterfall, and signage designs.

“We are excited to welcome residents from all over to Scarborough for the reopening of the redesigned L’Amoreaux Kidstown Water Park,” said Mayor Olivia Chow in a release. “As the only City-owned and operated water park, we hope kids and families will come together to stay active and have fun together in their community.”

“Today marks an exciting new chapter for the children and families in Scarborough-Agincourt as we celebrate the reopening of L’Amoreaux Kidstown Water Park,” said Aris Babikian, MPP for Scarborough—Agincourt, in a release.
“I’m proud that the Ontario government was a partner in this important community project, contributing just over $1.8 million in infrastructure funding to support the revitalization of the park, helping to rebuild it into a vibrant, inclusive and accessible space where everyone can connect, play and enjoy our city’s rich cultural heritage. Scarborough is no longer a forgotten part of the City of Toronto. This work is part of our government’s historic $236 billion capital plan to build to protect Ontario.”

Kidstown officially opens to the public on weekdays from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting Saturday, June 20. Full summer hours will go into effect on Friday, June 26. Before visiting, individuals and families are encouraged to check the schedule on the City’s webpage.
