A Toronto Farm Boy has closed temporarily after failing a food handling inspection.

The midtown Toronto store failed the DineSafe inspection on Sept. 8, according to a notice on the City of Toronto website.

The notice says the store was “maintained in manner permitting health hazard (Rodents),” and the store has failed to protect food from contamination.

The store has also failed to protect against the harbouring of pests.

There is also a minor infraction for not maintaining the food handling room in a sanitary condition.

The notice says that these infractions present “an immediate health hazard that cannot be corrected during an inspection.”

The store had several inspections in the past year, with three conditional passes for failing “to protect against harbouring of pests.”

The Farm Boy, at 2149 Yonge St., is marked as closed Monday and Tuesday this week, according to the store website.

In a statement, Farm Boy said the company is “committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety and cleanliness.”

“We have taken immediate action, including a full sanitation of the Yonge and Soudan location at 2149 Yonge St, Toronto and a rigorous review by our third-party pest control management company,” the statement sent to INsauga.com reads. “Together with building management, our food safety team is on-site and working closely with public health officials and other experts to review our pest management program to identify any additional opportunities to strengthen it.”

Farm Boy apologized for any inconvenience and concerns.
